The Mark V features 50,000 sq m of deck area, which has up to five to seven per cent more capacity than Wallenius’ Mark IV.

The vessel’s stern ramp has a width of 12 m and a weight capacity of 500 t, while the previous generation RoRo had a capacity of 380 t, so the capabilities for heavier cargo have been greatly extended.

The versatility of the vessel has been significantly increased and holds a clear height of 7.1 m on the main deck. This increase is to better accommodate the logistic requirements for high, heavy and break bulk cargo customers globally.

There are three hoistable decks within the vessel, allowing the decks to be lowered and raised to provide maximum flexibility and utilisation. The decks are operated by electrical winches on board the vessel.

Cargo can be loaded on the weather deck, which also has a m wide ramp from the deck below to easily move cargo. This deck area is not included in the 50,000 sq m capacity of the vessel. The weather deck can hold cargo such as containers, yachts, windmill blades as well as cargo-carrying equipment such as mafi trailers, providing more flexibility and space on board the vessel.

This vessel also uses the latest technology and innovative design features to reduce sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide emissions by five to six per cent, and nitrogen oxides by approximately three per cent, which will in turn reduce any environmental impact.

Each new build vessel that Wallenius launches, including the Mark V, has a state-of-the-art water ballast treatment system installed, which helps to prevent the transfer of invasive species in foreign areas.

The new Mark V generation vessel will allow Wallenius to continue to offer options for customers when moving any type of cargo. All cargo is stowed and secured on the most appropriate deck, depending on its weight, height and length. Wallenius offers custom handling equipment that is required to transport and roll any cargo on and off the vessel, while ensuring the safest and most efficient way of moving cargo.
