PNG LNG Project joint venture partner Esso Highlands has provided an update on the project, stating that the progress made should enable first LNG sales to be reached by the target date of 2014.
More than 100 tonnes of structural steel has been erected on the Train 1 pipe racks and over 1 km of the 2.4 km marine jetty has been constructed at the plant. Upstream, more than 60 km of the onshore pipeline has been welded.

The PNG LNG Project involves a two-train, 6.6 MMt/a LNG processing facility, envisaging the integrated development of the Hides, Angore and Juha gas fields, as well as associated gas from the Kutubu, Agogo, Gobe and Moran oil fields. The gas will be transported to the LNG plant near Port Moresby through approximately 850 km of large diameter pipeline.
