Harvey Norman has signed a contract to become a distributor of Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited’s 2 kilowatt BlueGen gas-to-electricity generators in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
Initially, Harvey Norman’s Commercial Division will make the generator available to commercial customers, utilities and government bodies.
In the long term, the product may become available to consumers through the chain’s retail stores.
About the size of a dishwasher, the generators use solid oxide fuel cell technology to convert natural gas into electricity and heat with very high efficiency.
According to Ceramic Fuel Cells, each BlueGen unit can produce twice the electricity needed to power an average home over a year, with the excess power exported to the power grid.
