The proposed project includes the construction of a 42 inch diameter gas transmission pipeline from the Surat and Bowen basins to a proposed LNG processing site located at Laird Point on Curtis Island, Gladstone.

The pipeline component comprises two lateral pipelines, 44 kilometres and 38 kilometres in length, connecting the Condabri and Woleebee developments, respectively, with the main pipeline. Beginning east of Wandoan at the junction of the two lateral pipelines, the main pipeline extends 362 kilometres north, veering east during the latter stages, with a marine crossing at The Narrows to arrive at the LNG facility.

The state Department of Infrastructure and Planning will manage the EIS process on behalf of the Coordinator-General.

The EIS, prepared on the basis of the maximum potential size of the project, will be available in full from 29 March 2010. Submissions to the Coordinator-General can be made up until 4 May 2010.

Public consultation will be held at venues around Queensland from 13 April 2010.

APLNG is a joint venture between Origin and ConocoPhillips, and includes a plan to develop a four train coal seam gas (CSG) to LNG project using Origin’s Queensland CSG reserves and resources. Origin will act as the upstream CSG operator and ConocoPhillips will be the downstream LNG operator, with a joint venture company to market the LNG. First LNG shipment from the project is expected in 2014.
